Carolyn Walsh

Carolyn Walsh popped out of the womb singing, and the passion to compose and perform has been an integral part of her life ever since. When she was a young girl in small town Georgia, she entertained her family with living room renditions of favorite pop songs and show tunes. She began classical training in piano when she was ten, and by the age of fourteen was composing original music. During her college years, Carolyn honed her skills performing cover tunes at a Cajun cafe in Athens, Georgia. She continued to play for larger and larger crowds into her 20s, including venues in Germany, Ireland, and all over the South. She has performed for audiences as large as 5000 and as small as one.

Carolyn recorded her first collection of original songs on a home cassette recorder at 16. Three full-length albums followed, the most recent a self-titled album in 2006. She was a member of The Jersey Barrier and appears on the band’s 2008 indie album Steady Pace in the Slow Lane.

In 2010, Carolyn's music moved beyond the traditional borders of CDs and live performance. Her song, “I Am Loved,” accompanies the closing credits of the 2011 film, Openings: The Search for Harry, and she performed the closing credits song for the award-winning film 2 Days Back. Another of Carolyn's original songs, “Sky,” is currently under consideration for a new film by Third Child Productions.

Now with a few dozen new songs, Carolyn has two more studio albums in the works. These songs chronicle her journey as she moved from Georgia to Colorado and recently to Minnesota.

One listener described her as having “the voice of an angel, but not the kind with a halo, the kind with a sword.”
