Mike Michel is a Minnesota Music Academy award winning songwriter, modern guitarist, and music educator, who was raised in Cincinnati,Ohio, developed his craft in Los Angeles, California, and now creates out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. After 3 years of debilitating tinnitus and hyperaucis (auditory cortex conditions) which almost ended his career, Mike is making a huge career comeback in 2017 with a new recording and music campaign called “On The Mend” in conjunction with Think Piece Publishing. On The Mend is an upbeat, groove oriented record containing memorable vocal melodies, hooky guitar riffs and messages of resiliency. Collaborators include co-producer Jason Orris (The Bad Plus), engineer Rob Osterlin, drummer Steve Goold (Sara Bareilles, Ben Rector) and bassist Ian Allison (Eric Hutchinson,Jeremy Messersmith). This is Mike’s first acoustic-centric recording packed with plenty of rock and roll energy. Mike has had the honor of collaborating with Minnesota artists like Haley Bonar, Dave King (The Bad Plus), Carnage (Minnesota’s beatboxing champion), Vicky Emerson, Courtney Yasmineh, & DJ Woody McBride. Mike also fronted some of Minnesota’s premiere art rock bands from 2002-2013, The Bill Mike Band and Saltee. The Rock And Roll Therapy Room in Minneapolis is Mike’s music education facility where he teaches and hosts music programs for teens & adult musicians like Peace Den & Eco-Rock.
