318 Comedy Night! Jason Schommer & Sherlonda Sharp w/Jesse Ellis

  • 318 cafe 318 Water Street Excelsior, MN 55331 USA (map)

Sherlonda Sharp: Co-Headliner

Sherlonda’s quick wit, likeability, and rapport with audiences have made her a favorite at clubs and colleges. Sherlonda opens for national touring comics, is a popular feature and closing act, and finished in the top five in the first comedy contest she ever entered. Sherlonda started her career in comedy as a New Year’s Resolution (the only one she’s ever stuck too!) in Raleigh, NC. In 2001- she grew tired of sunshine and warm weather and moved to Minneapolis, MN where her performing took flight. She’s performed at countless Elks, Moose, Lions, Eagles (anything named after an animal) clubs across the upper-mid west. Sherlonda is a great for corporate and private parties. She has entertained employees from Southwest Airlines, Lifetouch, and Duke Medical Center. Sherlonda has been honored to entertain our service men and women from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Fort Bragg and Andrews Air Force base.  Sherlonda’s inviting style can warm even the chilliest audiences and always leaves them wanting more.

 Jason Schommer: Co-Headliner

Jason Schommer is a standup comedian and storyteller who spent two years as the opening act for comedy legend Louie Anderson in Las Vegas and toured with Louie regularly. Comedy icon Louie Anderson said “Jason is funny, clever, smart, and on his way to the big time!”.  As a stand up comic, Jason has performed all over the USA as well as Canada and for the US Military in Japan.  Jason has worked with such comedy superstars as Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live, Night at the Roxbury), Josh Blue (Last Comic Standing champion), Judy Tenuta (Grammy Award Best Comedy Album), and Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live, The Ladies’ Man).  Jason’s sharp wit and spur of the moment playfulness keeps the audience on the edge of their seat with crazy and absurd “is-this-really-happening” stories to jokes with unexpected twists and turns and off-the-cuff riffs. The laughs come fast and furious as Jason mines everyday life, turning the seemingly mundane and routine into comedy gold.  A regular performer at The Moth, Jason has won numerous Story Slam competitions and was invited to perform at the GrandSlams at The Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul (2016, 2023) and The Guthrie Theater (2018) and at the Pantages Theater (2022).  Jason has been heard nationally on The Moth Radio Hour as well as featured on the podcast.  Jason has worked in New York City for The Rosie O’Donnell Show and has worked behind the scenes in Hollywood as a stand in for Louie Anderson on the FX television series Baskets.   In 2017 Jason released his first live comedy album “Confessions of a Local Celebrity”.  Most recently Jason went viral on TikTok by starring in a video with Dave Ryan from KDWB and hitting over 5.3 million views and was just seen in his smash hit Fringe Festival solo show “1992: Mistakes Were Made!”.

 Jesse Ellis: Emcee

What do you get when you cross a therapist with a stand up comedian?  This guy!  A bona fide licensed shrink for almost two decades in the Twin Cities, Jesse pulls the curtain back for audiences and gives them a sneak peek into the inner-workings and often hilarious experiences of a mental health professional. Whether he’s talking about the surreal experience of being an online therapist during an apocalypse or just trying to figure out what to tell drunk people he does for a living, one thing’s for sure: after hearing Jesse’s stories you’ll never see therapy (or your therapist) the same again!
